Sy-Ming Guu, Professor and Dean

Dr. Sy-Ming Guu obtained his Ph.D. degree in Operations Research from Stanford University in 1993. He joined Yuan Ze University in 1993-2012 and had various professorships in industrial engineering and management, information management, and business administration. Currently he joins and is recognized as a distinguished professor in College of Management, Chang Gung University. His current research interests include mathematical programming, economic analysis and economic finance, matrix theory and fuzzy dynamic systems, and rankings for organizations.
He has published papers in leading academic journals such as IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, Economic Theory, and Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control. Professor Guu served as the Dean in Academic Affairs (Provost) in 2007-2011 and was appointed as the Dean in College of Management, Yuan Ze University 2002-07. During 2003-06, he served as a Board member in the Board of Directors, Far Eastern Textile Ltd. And currently he is a Board member of Board of Directors, Min-Cheng Company. He was also a member in the Board of Directors, Taiwan Call Center Development Association. From 2007 to 2011, Professor Guu acted as a board member in the Friends of Stanford University Foundations-Taiwan. He was elected as the President of Operations Research Society of Taiwan (2008-2009). He also served as one of the editors-in-chief for the International Journal of Operations Research and editorial member for International Review of Fuzzy Mathematics and International Journal of Computational Science, respectively. Professor Guu also provides his professional service to several leading corporations (Far Eastern Group, Chang-Chun Petrochemical Group, Hon-Hai precision industry co., TDK Taiwan Corporation, Min-Sheng Medical Group, Ten-Cheng Medical Group, etc.) and Taoyuan County Government.
